Professionals focused on transforming and integrating Society's Information Age experience.
The Center was created by experts from diverse backgrounds who recognize that the Information Age is bringing
profound change to Society, and believe that a cross-disciplinary approach is needed to: first, understand
the myriad and complex factors that underlie the paradigm shift underway; and, second, provide collaboration
and expertise in order to develop successful strategies and align parties and resources. The Center is based
in the Rocky Mountain Region which possesses a wealth of cross-sector capabilities yet the Center's reach
is Global.
Networked systems from the Internet to Smart Grid to Defense technologies require security to be built in.
Moreover, information assurance necessitates robust defense-in-layer approaches to cybersecurity threats.
This information security approach, in turn, needs to be integrated across sectors and across public-private
frameworks in order to be effective. Integrating such a robust patchwork of information sharing alliances
meanwhile implicates and jeopardizes significant core societal values. Privacy, civil liberties and
appropriate and legal relationships among all the parties are just a few of the core societal values
that must be addressed along the way. The Center's scope addresses all these issues, from homeland security
and defense to technology to privacy and governance.
